Connecting a News Feed (RSS)
Keep your chatbot informed with the latest updates from your blog or news site, 100% automatically.
Introduction
If you regularly publish content (blog articles, press releases, job postings), manually importing each new page into DoxyChat can be tedious.
The RSS Feed feature allows you to connect your chatbot directly to your site’s news feed. DoxyChat will monitor this feed and automatically import new articles as soon as they’re published.
Connection Procedure
- Go to the Sources tab of your chatbot.
- Select the RSS Feed option.
- Enter your feed URL (e.g.,
https://mysite.com/feedorhttps://mysite.com/rss.xml). - Set the Rotation Limit (see explanation below).
- Click Add.
The latest articles from the feed will be immediately imported and processed. Then, DoxyChat will periodically check (every night) for new available content.
Understanding Automatic “Rotation”
News feeds can contain thousands of articles spanning multiple years. However, for an effective chatbot, relevant information is often recent information. Additionally, importing thousands of articles would unnecessarily saturate your document quota.
This is why DoxyChat uses an Intelligent Rotation system (or Make Room).
How does it work?
When you configure an RSS feed, you define a maximum number of articles to keep (for example: 10).
The system works like a newspaper rack:
- DoxyChat imports the 10 most recent articles.
- Tomorrow, you publish a new article (the 11th).
- To make room (“Make Room”), DoxyChat automatically deletes the oldest article from its memory.
- It then imports the brand new article.
Why is this useful?
- Guaranteed freshness: Your chatbot bases its responses on hot news, not on obsolete information from 5 years ago.
- Cost control: You control exactly how many document “slots” are used by this feed. You won’t risk exceeding your plan unexpectedly.
Note: This deletion only concerns the chatbot’s memory. It obviously doesn’t modify your website or your original RSS feed.
